Dear Astrid:
(1) Many thanks for your msg
(ATTACHMENT I below).
(2) When you will visit the University of Bergen, pls
do not forget to bring the wonderful support letter Hans Herren
of Millennium Institute kindly provided to you (Reference (a) above) --
together with the Reference (b) about our GEWS project.
Dear
Hans:
Many, many thanks for your support
letter.
This is because he was there a few days ago and his institute has a long standing very close relation with the university.
(3) At your mtg at the university, you may emphasize
the urgent need to utilize the distributed simulation approach as I
mentioned as follows in the Reference (b) above;
A related
challenge is that while global simulation models of
socio-economic-energy-environmental systems do currently exist, they generally
disregard national boundaries. This is impractical, because nations and their
peoples are unique. Local experts know their homeland, its intricacies, and how
its people relate to neighboring populations.
Ignoring national identities is a violation of the basic rule of simulation.
Its consequences include inaccuracies despite huge expenditures for
intellectual manpower, and more money spent for computing, information and
telecommunication facilities that are not effectively used.
(4)
At your mtg at the university, you may also quote my
following anecdote (Reference (c) above);
ÒHowever
those scientists at the M.I.T. are smart, Japanese knows about Japan much
better than they are, since American eat steak with knife and folk while
Japanese eat noodle with chopstick.Ó This was the time when my idea on
the ÒDistributed Simulation SystemÓ was born.
(5) I coined ÒGlobal Neural Computer NetworkÓ in early 1980s and which was
often used by then the Vice President Al Gore, I then stated the followings in
the Reference (d) above;
The
socio-economic-energy-environmental simulation models of various countries
scattered around the world would correspond to the neuron of the global brain,
synapsis to the routers of Internet, nerves to the Internet, etc. This
also depicts the basis of our GEWS technical structure, i.e., the distributed
simulation.
(a) I then presented my first paper on the distributed simulation at the first
International Conference on Computer Communication (ICCC) in Washington, DC in
the fall of 1972 (Reference (e) above).
(b) I then initiated the globalization of Internet in 1970s to early 1980s
(Reference (e) above).
(b) I then worked on the deregulation on the use of email (Reference (e) above), since I foresaw the need to communications among game
players around the world — some say that this even led to the Arab
Spring!!
(c) I then conducted a series of ÒGlobal Lecture Hall (GLH)Ó
multipoint-to-multipoint, multimedia interactive videoconferencing as spanning
the globe with the use of hybrid technologies (Reference (f) above), since I
realized that the text-oriented email is not enough for transmissions of
engineering diagrams and high-resolution medical images.
(d) I then initiated the creation of Global University System (GUS) (Reference
(g) above).
Our GEWS project is the culmination of those activities.
(6) You may print out References (a) and (b) above and give to the people at
the University of Bergen.
(7) After May 21 (when Prof. Randers comes back to his office), you may visit
him in Oslo, too, with the same materials.
Pls convey my best personal regards to him — pls tell him that I wish to rekindle our friendship with
him again who triggered changing the world!! -- see
Reference (h) above.
Wishing you a very good luck to your mtg with them,
Best, Tak
